Nowhere Bros is your online home for everything music. We post music news, reviews, gig updates and opinion pieces. If there’s a major music story, or album release, you will hear about it on Nowhere Bros. We also do podcasts discussing all the issues in music, while giving our honest view about the best new releases.
Who are they?
Nowhere Bros was started in 2013 by Karl McGuirk and Sam Smith. They are the main contributors to the blog and coordinate the running of both the blog and Facebook pages.
Sam is the co-founder and coordinator of Nowhere bros. He has a master’s degree in political studies from the University of Auckland and currently works as a journalist at Auckland radio station 95bFM. In his spare time Sam also hosts the anniversary albums segment on bFM’s Monday morning glory show, as well as his own music show on Thursday mornings between 1am and 3am.
Karl is the co-founder, co-pilot, primary shareholder and slush fund executive of Nowhere Bros. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and English from the University of Auckland, with a focus in Ethnomusicology. (the study of music as representation of culture) Karl is also a part-time language teacher, having worked as an English Language Teacher in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam in 2014.
