On this episode of anniversary albums, we take a look at Paul Simon’s classic 1986 release “Graceland”. This is the album that is generally considered to have resurrected Simon’s career at a point where his commercial success was on the wane, while he was also suffering from depression. Despite its commercial success and critical praise, “Graceland” also landed Simon in hot water when he broke a cultural boycott and recorded some of the album in apartheid South Africa.
